Many retained executive search firms offer 6 months to 1 year as their standard replacement guarantee. The issue with that is typically either objectives have longer timelines (as in 2 years) or the offer includes MBO incentives in the form of additional bonuses and stock options and/or equity. The higher level the role is, the longer the MBOs are. We often see 3 to 5 years to achieve the Board’s objectives.
